Taskora for Simple Visual Management: How It Works, Compared with Trello

Written by Georgii Garanin, Founder, Taskora

TL;DR: Taskora is built around simple visual management: streams with their own kanban boards, cards you drag across columns that mirror your process, and docs with version history next to the work. All of it ships in one flat plan: $13 per seat per month billed monthly, or $10 billed yearly. Compared with Trello, the tool most teams picture first, the trade is honest. Trello is lighter to start, free forever within its caps, and has a bigger integration directory. But its useful features sit on a tier ladder that tops out at $17.50 per seat, and SSO only arrives on the Enterprise plan, which requires 50 seats. Taskora ships every feature in one plan, so the bill is seats times one number.

One disclosure before the comparison: we make Taskora. We keep the Trello side factual, and its numbers come from Trello's own pricing page.

What Simple Visual Management asks of a tool

A tool gives you simple visual management when the board is the state of the project. Work is cards, the columns are stages, and anyone, technical or not, can read where everything stands in a few seconds, without a tutorial.

This article covers the other side of that question: how Taskora delivers simple visual management, and where Trello, the category benchmark, does it differently.

How Taskora does Simple Visual Management

The board is the home screen. A stream is a team or a project.

The pieces around the board:

  • Streams with their own kanban boards. Marketing, ops, and engineering each get a board that reads clean instead of one giant shared wall, with its own columns, cards, and status workflow.
  • Waves. Taskora's sprint-like cycles pull unfinished tasks into the next wave, so a two-week rhythm doesn't silently drop work at the boundary.
  • Docs and a team wiki with version history. Specs, meeting notes, and process pages live next to the board, and every edit is recorded. You can see what changed and when.
  • Threaded comments and role-based permissions. Discussion stays on the work, and the permissions hold on every screen.
  • One flat plan. Every feature ships in it. There are no tiers, which means no decision about which features you can afford to see.

That last point is the structural difference, and it's where the Trello comparison gets concrete.

Taskora vs Trello, side by side

Trello's prices below are list rates, checked September 2026.

Taskora Trello
Free to try Free to start until November 1, then a 14-day trial Free plan with caps: 10 boards and 10 collaborators per Workspace
Paid pricing One plan: $13 per seat monthly or $10 billed yearly Three tiers: $5, $10, $17.50 per user per month, billed annually
Feature gating None, every feature is in the plan Extra views and export at Premium, SSO at Enterprise
Docs Docs and wiki with version history, built in Not native, teams add a Power-Up or Confluence
SSO On-request conversation Enterprise only, which carries a 50-seat minimum and a $10,000 annual floor
Self-hosting Available on request at the same flat price Cloud only
The bill's shape Seats times one number Per-Workspace billing, multi-board guests billable on Standard and Premium

At 50 seats, the bills come out close in size and far apart in what they cover. Taskora's yearly bill is $6,000, and that same rate covers docs, self-hosting on request, and SSO as an on-request conversation. Trello Premium at the same size is also about $6,000, but Premium has no docs product and no self-hosting option, and its SSO tier isn't available at 50 seats without the Enterprise commitment.

Where Trello genuinely wins

A fair comparison says this out loud. Trello's free plan runs forever, which matters for a team that can't take on a software bill yet. Its Power-Up directory is far larger than anything we offer, so if your workflow depends on a specific integration, Trello is the safer bet today. Butler automation is mature, the template community is deep, and Atlassian Intelligence is further along as an AI layer. Fifteen years of being the default board tool bought Trello an ecosystem, and we don't pretend that gap doesn't exist.

Where Taskora wins

The flat plan is the headline. Nobody discovers in month three that the view they need is a tier up. That single change removes the upgrade conversation tiered tools keep reopening.

The board isn't the whole product, either. Taskora's answer is docs and a wiki built in, living inside the stream one click from the board they describe. Every edit is recorded, so you can see what changed and when, and templates cover the documents your team writes over and over. That's the difference between one place for the work and a toolchain you stitch yourself.

The process on the board is yours to define, too. Each stream sets its own statuses, marks which one starts the work and which one ends it, and allows only the transitions you approve, so a card can't skip the steps in between unless you let it. Trello's lists are free-form, and a name is all a list is. Nothing marks where work starts or finishes, and nothing limits how a card moves between them. Butler can react to a move after it happens, but it can't stop one.

The permissions are set once and hold everywhere. Roles apply across the whole workspace, on boards and docs alike, so who can see and change what doesn't depend on each stream being configured separately.

And the enterprise shape comes without the enterprise floor. Self-hosted and air-gapped deployment is available on request at the same flat price, and SSO with custom enterprise terms is an on-request conversation rather than a 50-seat minimum with a five-figure floor. A team of twelve can ask for the same terms a team of two hundred would negotiate for, at the same per-seat rate.

Which one fits your team

Trello fits when the budget is zero, the work is one board deep, and the team already lives inside the Atlassian ecosystem. It's a great product for exactly that shape of team.

Taskora fits when you want the board to be simple but the work around it to live in the same place: docs, wiki, waves, permissions, and a bill that's just seats times one number. If SSO or self-hosting is on the requirements list, both are available without an enterprise tier in the way.

Both are simple visual management tools at heart. The difference is what happens when your team needs a little more than a board.

FAQ

What is simple visual management in Taskora?

It's the board-first way Taskora shows work: streams with their own kanban boards, cards moving across columns that match the team's process, and docs with version history beside the board. The whole state of a project reads in seconds, without training.

Taskora vs Trello: which is better for simple visual management?

On a zero budget with one board, Trello. Its free plan is the reason. When simple visual management has to grow into custom workflows, docs with version history, or permissions that hold workspace-wide, Taskora is the stronger fit, because none of it is gated behind a higher tier. The same goes for self-hosting and SSO.

How much does Taskora cost compared to Trello?

Taskora is one plan, $13 per seat per month billed monthly or $10 billed yearly, with every feature included. Trello charges $5, $10, or $17.50 per user per month on annual billing, and the features that matter to a growing team sit mostly on the top two tiers.

Does Taskora have a free plan like Trello's?

No, and we'd rather say it plainly. Taskora is free to start until November 1, no credit card. After that, there's a 14-day free trial. We don't offer a permanent free tier today.

Can I self-host Taskora?

Yes, self-hosted and air-gapped deployment is available on request at the same flat price. Trello runs in Atlassian's cloud only.
