Sprints
Sprints that fit your team
Taskora calls its sprints waves: planning cycles with a name, a length you pick, and a backlog that catches whatever doesn't finish. Here's how they work.
How a wave runs
A sprint is a time-boxed batch of tasks: a focused push with a name and a date range. A wave moves through three states, and you stay in control of each one.
Plan the cycle.
Set the length, from a week to a month, and name each cycle what your team already calls it.
Ship the work.
Move cards across the kanban board, then watch throughput and progress as you go.
Close it.
A wave goes from plan to active to completed, and you close it when the cycle ends. Once it's completed, new tasks can't be dropped into it, so nobody files work into last month's plan.
Nothing gets lost between sprints
Whatever doesn’t finishrolls over to the Backlog, ready for the next sprint. You never re-file anything by hand.
The backlog is where the unfinished work waits, and the next sprint picks it up. Wave and stream reports show the plan sitting next to what actually happened, at the cycle level and the stream level.
Every stream runs its own cycle
Marketing runs a two-week campaign sprint. Ops runs a monthly close. Each stream carries its own custom cycle, so the cadence matches the work instead of the other way around.
Questions
- How do sprints work?
- A sprint is a batch of time-boxed work with a name and an end date. You set the length, from a week to a month, and name each cycle what your team already calls it. Taskora calls its own cycles waves. Unfinished tasks land in the Backlog, and the next sprint picks them up.
- Do unfinished tasks disappear when a sprint ends?
- No. They roll over to the Backlog automatically, and the next sprint picks them up. Nothing vanishes, and nobody rebuilds the board by hand at the end of a cycle.
- Can different streams run different sprint lengths?
- Yes. Each stream defines its own cycle, so marketing can run two-week campaign sprints while ops runs a monthly close, side by side in the same workspace.
